Mr Roscelle Gudes, Jr.

September 11, 1948 — February 14, 2021

On Valentines Day 2021, February 14, 2021, Tampa lost an incredible man, Mr. Roscelle Gudes Jr.
I was lucky enough to meet Mr. Gudes over a year ago when I captured his family portrait. He was an incredible and funny man, larger than life. He also raised a large family including a son, Mr. Orlando Gudes, who served Tampa Police Department for almost three decades and is now on the Tampa City Council. When I found out he passed away, I was touched not only because Tampa lost yet another incredible man, but also because during my meeting him, he made me smile and I could see how much love he had for all those around him.
I was reminded that this is why I so love being a portrait photographer. I not only meet so many incredible individuals, but I get to capture a portrait of them showcasing all of who they are filling the canvas with their personality, their dreams, the past, present, future, and their legacy. I am so grateful to have captured the portrait of Mr. Gudes, especially now. What starts out as a simple image is now one of the most valuable treasures the family will ever own. He will live forever not only in the hearts of all those who knew him but also in the portrait I was honored to capture of him. May he rest in peace.
