Tampa offers a diverse range of scenic backdrops perfect for every occasion, from professional headshots to family portraits and lifestyle sessions. Whether you’re drawn to the waterfront views of Bayshore Boulevard, the lush greenery of Lettuce Lake Park, or the vibrant murals in downtown, these Tampa outdoor photoshoot locations offer the ideal blend of natural beauty and urban charm. In this guide, we’ll explore top spots that bring your vision to life while highlighting the best light, scenery, and atmosphere Tampa has to offer.

And as a Tampa headshot photographer myself, here are some of the best Tampa Phootoshoot Locations I have personally tested and can highly recommend for your photoshoot.

1. Tampa Photoshoot Locations: University of Tampa and Henry B Plant Park

The University of Tampa and Heny B Plant Park is one of the best Tampa photoshoot Locations. It is a historical campus and a staple in the Tampa Bay. It’s architecture paired with the palm tree-lined Plant Park offers a timeless backdrop perfect for a classic or elegant shoot. The Moorish-inspired minarets, intricate archways, and shaded walkways provide stunning variety for any portrait session.

Best for:

  1. Graduation photos
  2. Personal branding Session
  3. Outdoor Headshots with Tampa Downtown View
  4. Lifestyle portraits

Tips from Tampa headshot photographer:

In the Tampa bay downtown area you have to get a permit ahead of any photoshoot that is on city of Tampa land and the use of additional lighting or equipment is required. So, for a Tampa headshot photographer this means that if I bring a strobe light on a separate stand and a tripod to hold my camera, I have to get a permit. This is not true at University of Tampa property.

This location has great views on Downtown Tampa

The park also provides beautiful shade for a photoshoot during hot bright months but be careful on students during the school months.

2. Tampa Photoshoot Locations: Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park

Located in the heart of downtown, Curtis Hixon Park blends urban and green space beautifully. The backdrop includes modern architecture, fountains, and a fantastic view of the Tampa Riverwalk and Hillsborough River, making it one of the most versatile Tampa outdoor photoshoot locations.

Best for:

  1. Professional Branding
  2. Outdoor Headshots with Tampa Downtown View
  3. High-end fashion shoots
  4. Couple engagement and wedding photoshoot by the courthouse
  5. Lifestyle photoshoot

Tips from Tampa headshot photographer:

Curtis Hixon Park is beautiful and often visited location for a photoshoot. As a Tampa headshot photographer, this location is often requested by clients that are searching for Tampa Photoshoot Locations and especially with Downtown Tampa view. However, it is a very popular location for the security as well and if you dont have a permit to do a professional photoshoot there, you will get asked to leave by security. There are ways to get around this rule however so photographers still often frequest this location.

3. Tampa Photoshoot Locations: Armature Works and Ulele Riverwalk

Armature Works and Ulele Riverwalk offer some of the most dynamic and photogenic settings among Tampa outdoor photoshoot locations. With its industrial-chic architecture, string lights, and modern design, Armature Works provides a trendy, urban backdrop perfect for branding sessions or casual lifestyle shoots. Just steps away, the Ulele Riverwalk offers scenic views along the Hillsborough River, native landscaping, and access to the historic Ulele restaurant and spring. The mix of water, greenery, and architecture makes this area one of the most versatile Tampa photoshoot locations, ideal for couples, families, or professionals seeking variety and vibrant atmosphere in one shoot.

Best for:

  1. Family photoshoot
  2. Branding Photoshoot with Tampa Downtown View
  3. Pets Portraits or family with pets
  4. More

Tips from Tampa headshot photographer:

As a Tampa headshot photographer, the Armature Works and Ulele, as well as the park by Ulele as welll as the Riverwalk are all amazing areas for a photoshoot. I have personally done a number of sessions in this area. The only thing to keep in mind is the popularity of this area for couple and families going for walk so you have to be careful where you set up your spot.

Also, Armatureworks is a private property so you will again need a permission in order to do a photoshoot there anywhere on their property.

4. Tampa Photoshoot Locations: Hyde Park Village

For a stylish, upscale look, Hyde Park Village offers brick-paved streets, boutique storefronts, and beautiful landscaping. It’s perfect for those who want a chic lifestyle feel in their photos, complete with a mix of greenery and modern urban charm.

Best for:

  1. Branding sessions
  2. influencer content
  3. Engagement shoots

Tips from Tampa headshot photographer:

Hyde Park Village is a beautiful location for a Tampa photoshoot but it does have it’s drawbacks. For 1, it can get very busy at times so timing is important to get right. 2, around the fountain is a private property so you need a permission from the building owner for a professional photoshoot production. I have photographed realtors several times there so it is not as difficult to obtain as it is in Downtown Tampa but you do risk of getting kicked out without one.

Final Notes

If you are looking for a Tampa Photoshoot location in the immediate area, these are some of the best and my favorite, but not all locations I frequent as a Tampa headshot photographer. Also keep in mind, that in Florida it rains a lot during the raining months of the year. So, definitely keep that in mind.

My name is Allie Serrano and I am a professional portrait photographer and the owner of Allie Serrano Portraits. I have lived in the Tampa Bay area for over 25 years now. I am originally from the Czech Republic and we live in Apollo Beach with my fiance Pierre Henry and our 4 cats. As the owner of Allie Serrano Portraits, a portrait photography studio, my goal is to show men and women that they don’t have to hide anymore. I was bullied as a child for having red hair and it made me feel very self-conscious, so I can relate to not feeling good enough. But today it is a source of my biggest strength. That’s also why as a portrait photographer I help women and men to see themselves in a more positive light. I invite you to join me on this wonderful photoshoot experience where I empower you to feel great about yourself. It would be an honor to meet you and together celebrate your brand with quality branding portraits of magazine quality. You can also schedule a private boudoir photoshoot or a family portrait. I work tirelessly to ensure that every portrait you hang on your wall or a website equals your excellence and gives you the confidence to step into the world every single day. https://allieserranoportraits.com/about/
